Mission
History
Somos Familia Valle was founded on September 6, 2014, with a vision to empower and unite the LGBTQ+ community in the San Fernando Valley. Just one month later, on October 12, 2014, the organization made a groundbreaking launch by hosting the first-ever San Fernando Valley Pride March and Conference in Panorama City. The theme of the event, "COMING OUT OF THE SHADOWS," symbolized a significant milestone in the community's journey towards visibility and acceptance.
This historic gathering marked the beginning of a grassroots movement, led by passionate volunteers, dedicated to advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and fostering a sense of belonging for all residents of the 818. Since then, Somos Familia Valle has continued to grow and evolve through signature events, programs, and fostering community safe spaces leaving a mark on the local community and paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable future.
